SZ Finance Founder Series

The digital revolution is playing an increasingly important role in the finance industry. Both in the English-speaking world, and more recently in Europe, new business ideas are being developed on a daily basis, designed by the founders to snatch market share from the traditional banks and investment funds, or extend it.

This year the Süddeutsche Zeitung is launching the SZ Finance Founder Series, which will select the most innovative finance startups. The aim: to intensify the dialogue with the FinTech industry. Selection criteria include how innovative is the company’s idea, how qualified is the team, and what market potential does the startup have.

The SZ founders will have the opportunity to briefly present their business idea in front of a high-calibre audience at the SZ Finance Day on March 17th in Frankfurt. Speakers at the Finance Day include ECB President Mario Draghi and Blackrock Vice Chairman Philipp Hildebrand, as well as numerous prominent representatives from banks, investment funds and authorities. In addition, the selected startups will be invited to attend the congress free of charge, including the pre-congress dinner with Mario Draghi.

The selection committee for the SZ founders is composed of:

  • Ann-Kristin Achleitner, Professor for Corporate Financing/Venture Capital, TU Munich
  • Martin Reitz, CEO Germany, Rothschild
  • Wolfgang Hach, Partner, Roland Berger
  • Andrea Rexer, Head of the Financial Team, Süddeutsche Zeitung
